Many outdoors lovers look forward to winter so they can enjoy the thrill of one of the Cleveland Metroparks’ most distinctive attractions: the toboggan chutes at Mill Stream Run Reservation. The two 700-foot chutes — the tallest and fastest in Ohio — send riders rocketing downhill at up to 50 miles an hour, the perfect activity for those suffering from Cedar Point withdrawal. And they’re refrigerated so temperatures up to 50 degrees aren’t a concern.

You must be 42’ inches tall to ride and gloves are required. Fingers and toes getting numbs? There are two fireplaces in the Chalet and warm (and cold) beverages, as well as light food, available at the snack bar there. There’s even a heated loft where you can watch other people screaming as their toboggan launches down the chute!

The toboggan chutes are open from Thanksgiving weekend to early March, Friday through Sunday. But over the holidays the hours are greatly expanded: they’re open every day from Mon 12/23-Sat 1/4 except Christmas (Yes, including New Year’s Day).

So if you’re looking for something to keep the bored kids engaged, check the hours here.

An all-day adult ticket is $12; an all-day ticket for 11 and under is $10. If you’d like to try it out to make sure you don’t freak out, a single-ride ticket is $6. Season and family passes are also available. No reservations are required.
