Two Musicians Share Stories & Songs Across Racial Lines at Folknet Concert in Lyndhurst

Sat 5/11 @ 7PM

Folknet, the Cleveland-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting all forms of acoustic music, will present the third of its four spring concerts this Saturday at Church of the Good Shepherd in Lyndhurst.

It features two musicians whose origin stories begin in Richmond, Virginia where they were born three days apart. Reggie Harris is black, Greg Greenway is white, and, with Richmond being a portal for the slave trade, their ancestral stories are disparate yet entwined.

Both committed to civil rights and justice, Harris and Greenway share those stories and their commitment to human rights and building a better world in a presentation they call Deeper Than the Skin. They’ve performed this program to groups across the country with similar commitments, meshing song, poetry and storytelling to make people think about how race impacts life in America and how we can build bridges to overcome differences.

Tickets are $15; Folknet members are $12 — and you can join at the door.
