Canvas City Benefit at Bonfoey Raises Money for FRONT Triennial

Wed 5/15 @ 5-7:30PM

The first Cleveland FRONT International Triennial just closed last fall, but planning is already well underway for the next one, taking place in 2021.

This week Bonfoey Galley downtown, partners with FRONT and art collectors/patrons/advocates Fred & Laura Bidwell to host a benefit for FRONT, showcasing its Canvas City print portfolio. The Canvas City project features six large-scale murals by internationally recognized artists, with three already executed in downtown Cleveland and three more still on the drawing board.

FRONT has created a limited-edition print portfolio with six screenprints based on the mural designs by Julian Stanczak, Heimo Zobernig, Sarah Morris, Kay Rosen, Michelle Grabner and Odili Donald Odita, which come in a hardbound portfolio case.  They’ll be available for purchase at Bonfoey from Wed 5/15-Sat 6/1, with proceeds benefiting FRONT and the creation of the last three murals.

During that time Bonfoey will also be showing a small group of paintings by Stanczak, who earned his degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1954, and lived, worked and taught in Cleveland for more than 40 years before his death in 2017. Stanczak’s mural is among those already on view at the corner of East 9th and Prospect.

A reception to introduce the portfolio will be held at Bonfoey Gallery Wed 5/15 @ 5:30-7:30pm.
