Classical music audiences never get enough of Mozart. So Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s baroque orchestra, is launching its 2018-2019 season with a grand flourish, with its “Magnificent Mozart” program.

It features three Mozart pieces: the overture to La Finta Simplice; his Symphony No. 40 in G major; and ballet music from Idemeneo, performed on instruments from Mozart’s period by 35 musicians, including soloists Susanna Perry Gilmore on violin, Debra Nagy on oboe, Stephanie Corwin on bassoon and Ezra Seltzer on cello.

In addition, the concerts will offer the first movement of the Concertante in B-flat major by Mozart’s contemporary Joseph Haydn.

Apollo’s Fire’s founder/artistic director Jeannette Sorrell conducts the concerts, which take place Friday at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium, Saturday at Akron’s First United Methodist Church and Sunday at the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Kulas Hall. AF’s principal cellist René Schiffer will give pre-concert talk an hour prior to each concert. Tickets start at $22.
