Talespinner Children’s Theatre Takes Audiences to Thailand for its Next Show

Sat 6/9-Sun 7/1

Talespinner Children’s Theatre takes audiences all over the world from its little theater on Detroit Avenue on Cleveland’s Near West Side, so kids with worlds he encompass a few city blocks have the chance to travel in their imaginations.

The next imagination flight departs for Thailand on Sat 6/9 when The Princess and the Nightingale: A Tale of Thailand takes over the stage, filling it with song, dance and the beautiful stagecraft Talespinner is known for.

In it, 11 of 12 sisters convince the youngest that she should cage a beautiful bird that flies into her room, to regale her with fantastic stories in order to keep it safe from “lurking cats.” Supposedly “the young woman soon discovers that true friendship means giving each other freedom to be who we really are.” As the long-time owner of Siamese (i.e. Thai) cats, may I suggest her sisters were onto something!

The show runs Fridays and Saturdays @ 7pm and Saturdays and Sunday @ 2pm through Sun 7/1. Tickets are $12 for 12 and under; $15 for 13 and over, $12 for seniors and college students (yes, these productions are not just for kids!) Pay what you can performances are Fri 6/15, Fri 6/22 and Fri 6/29.
