Kent’s Standing Rock Cultural Arts Displays Painted Skateboards in “Decks for Days”

Fri 6/1 @ 6PM

Skateboard decks are one of the most popular canvases for pop culture art, with street-style artists of all types unleashing their creativity on these mobile galleries.

The painted decks at Kent’s Standing Rock Culture Arts’ North River Street Gallery won’t be on the move, so you’ll be able to better admire them when it opens Decks for Days, a show of hand-painted longboard skateboards by Audrey Henry. The Kent-based artist began the series after getting a commission to do such a board and feeling like she wanted to explore the possibilities more. Her boards are clear-coated with a protectant so they can be displayed OR ridden.

The show opens with a free public reception Fri 6/1 @ 6pm during Main Street Kent’s First Friday Art Walk and will be on view through Sat 7/28.
