The Lexington, Kentucky-based band the Wooks build their sound, appropriately, on that most Kentuckian of music, bluegrass — after all, it IS the “Bluegrass State.” The progressive-minded ensemble adds some rock and folk and crosses over (as so many such bands do) to the jam band scene where the virtuosity and rootsiness of bluegrass has been accepted with open arms. The relatively new band released its debut CD Little Circles in 2016.
They’ll be performing at the Riverdog Gallery in Oberlin with special guest Michael Cleveland. Lorenzo’s wood-fire pizza will be providing $9 pies, but as usual, you can bring your own cooler and picnic basket if you choose. Admission is $17 at the door, but reservations are recommended since the gallery’s capacity is small.
