Not sure that Craig Bell would be excited to hear himself described as a “living legend,” as the Beachland is doing for his upcoming headlining show at the Tavern there. But as the bassist for the “serious” version of Cleveland’s Rocket from the Tombs c. 1975, which gave birth to the critically adored Pere Ubu, it could be argued that he is that. Around the same time he also played with Mirrors, another band in that tiny incestuous underground scene whose groups shared many members. Now based in Indianapolis, Bell has continued to play music across the years and last year released a batch of material from his archives.

He’ll be playing some from his lengthy career when he touches down at the Beachland. Also on the bill are Cleveland’s Goldmines and Fascinating. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
