The @HappyDog58 Launches New Monthly Series on Cleveland’s Immigrant Groups

Immigrations

Wed 1/6 @ 7PM

The issue of immigration has been hotly debated in recent years, but much of that debate has been based on falsehoods and scare tactics. In fact, immigrants have greatly enriched the social, cultural, political and economic fabric of cities like Cleveland.

One of Cleveland’s most innovative bars, the Happy Dog, is launching a series that will explore the dense and lively history of immigration in Cleveland, taking place at their Euclid Tavern location in University Circle. Hosted by the Western Reserve Historical Society’s John Grabowski and Cleveland State University’s Richey Piiparinen, each of the monthly conversations will focus on a different ethnic or nationality group. They’ll explore why they came here, where they settled, what they contributed to the area and where they are now. The events are free.
