Canadian trumpet player Lina Allemano has started to get a lot of attention for the creative ways in which she approaches using her instrument. She’s based in Toronto where she plays with a number of different groups, including her own free jazz ensemble the Lina Allemano Four, which has toured Canada, the U.S. and Europe extensively for the past eight years.
But it’s Lina Allemano’s Titanium Riot that’s making people sit up and take notice now. Formed in 2013 to combine acoustic and electric instrumentation while exploring psychedelic-style sonic experimental in an improvisational context, the group released their debut album Kiss the Brain last year. In addition to Allemano on trumpet, it features analog synth player Ryan Driver, electric bassist Rob Clutton and drummer Nick Fraser.
The group will be performing in Cleveland at the Bop Stop. Admission is $10.
