For the last four years, Cleveland’s Angry Ladies of Improv have been doing their best to correct gender imbalance in improvisational comedy, where all-male troupes are common, and four-man/one-woman troupes are the norm.
The four ladies, who really aren’t all that angry, set an example while inviting those with some improv experience or anyone who has been attending the jam for a while to join them for the opening set of short-form improv games and then a long –form improv set. But you didn’t have to be all THAT experienced — just game. The troupe includes four experienced performers — Dionne Atchison, Brenna “MC” Connor, Tracy Cubbal, and Marjorie Preston — who will guide novices through the ropes.
The jam has moved around to various venues, but it now have a new night and a new venue. It’ll take place on Thursdays at Sachsenheim Hall on the near west side.
Food and drink are available at the hall so come watch or come participate. There’s no cover.
