Pianist Wu Han and her husband, cellist David Finckel, are extremely well known to aficionados of chamber music. They’re co-directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Music@Menlo, a chamber music festival in the Silicon Valley. Finckel was a longtime member of the noted Emerson String Quartet where he played alongside violinist Philip Setzer. So clearly this is a trio of musicians who have an intimate understanding of each other as musicians.
Also extremely well known to classical music fans are the three Beethoven piano trios, which is what Finckel, Wu Han and Setzer will be playing when they come to Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall under the auspices of the Tuesday Musical Association.
Wu Han will personally be doing the pre-concert talk an hour before the performance.
