Russian-born, UK-based violinist Alina Ibragimova is still shy of her 30th birthday, but she’s been making a splash and setting “youngest ever” records almost since she began playing at the age of four. She’s an old hand at playing with orchestras, something she’s been doing since she was six. She’s won numerous international competitions, of course, and has been recording since 2007.
This week, she’ll be appearing with the Cleveland Orchestra and conductor Juanjo Mena to play Jean Sibelius’ popular and oft-performed Violin Concerto in D minor. The Orchestra will also play Sibelius’ Symphony No. 7 and, keeping things in the (very early) 20th century, Schoenberg’s Pélleas and Mélisande.
Tickets are $29-$162.
