Fri 2/20 @ 8PM

Sax player Nathan-Paul Davis is a real dynamo. He’s in the horn section of northeast Ohio soul supernova Wesley Brightc & the Hi-Lites. He fronts soul-funk ensemble the Admirables. He plays with Latin jazz ensemble Ahi-Nama. And he still plays jazz, the genre in which he got his degree from the University of Akron’s distinguished program.

That’s what he’ll be doing when he checks in at Akron’s Blu Jazz for an evening he’s calling “Suited Groove.”

“‘Groove’ indicates the foundation we want to lay for most of our songs,” he says. “‘Suited’ is what we’re doing to life when we are on stage playing our instruments: we’re dressing up stories and current events with organized sound. It has a sort of sophistication to it. So ‘Suited Groove’ is very fitting.”

Joining him in this mission are keyboard player Dale Rothenberg, bassist Kip Reed and drummer and drummer Dan Fernandez.

Tickets are $10.
