Many jazz groups are occasional ensembles, with membership determined by players’ availability as musicians perform with four, five or six groups. New York-based Tri-Fi have been playing together for ten years.
And while pianist Matthew Fries, acoustic bassist Phil Palombi and drummer Keith Hall have been much in demand as sidemen and ensemble players, they always return to home base in this classic yet contemporary piano trio.
They recently released their fifth CD Staring at the Sun. They’re coming to Nighttown to share the new music with jazz lovers here.
Tickets are $15.
