Finland’s Sonata Arctica is one of the more intriguing contemporary metal bands. Originally known as Tricky Bean/Means, the group’s towering music seemed to call for a more serious name. So by the end of the ’90s they were Sonata Arctica, performing power metal with a bow toward sweeping symphonic metal.
Although the band’s undergone a typical number of personnel changes, with only singer/keyboardist/composer Tony Kakko and Tommy Portimo remaining from the band’s mid ’90s inception, they’ve continued to record and release albums steady, including this year’s Pariah’s Child, their eighth full-length album.
The group will perform at the Agora Ballroom, with Delain and Xandria opening.
Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 at the door. VIP tickets are also available for $50.
