From the mid ’70s until the late ’80s, Wild Horses rocked every party and bar in town with their combination of classic rock covers and their own infectious tunes.
Their biggest “hit” — and it WAS a hit locally — was the reggae-influenced “Funky Poodle,” still recognizable to many Clevelanders today. They followed it up with the blazing “Carbona Mona.” Those early ’80s hits carried them through the end of the decade, when real-life jobs and families made sustaining a full-time band difficult.
Still, the band has continued to regroup with various former members for special shows, especially as summer rolls around. They’re the kind of fun band that was always at the top of the list for those outdoor parties in the park back in the day. So they’re a natural for Wade Oval Wednesdays where they’ll play tonight. Of COURSE they’ll play “Funky Poodle.”
It’s free.
