Ashtabula County is known for its covered bridges boasting more than anywhere else in Ohio, as well as both the longest and shortest covered bridges in the U.S. there are 18 in all, and while any time is a good time to visit them, the colors are at their peak in the fall when the annual two-day Covered Bridge Festival takes place in October.
