It’s a hit on social media! You may have already seen it, but Facebookers are currently sharing Fortune Magazine’s new article claiming that Cleveland has a 63% chance of becoming the next Brooklyn. The article bases their prediction on the fact Cleveland is in the midst of a downtown revival featuring three Williamsburg-esque neighborhoods: Tremont, Ohio City, and Gordon Square.
Thank you? The article is currently uncovering some Clevelanders’ mixed emotions on the subject. While some are honored to be following in the footsteps of the popular NYC borough, others are feeling that sense of pride that Cleveland can become something more than just a shadow to Manhattan.
Yes, we see it. The trendy shops and restaurants, the new found urge to move downtown and fun nightlife are all starting to add up to make the perfect Brooklyn equation, but I think there’s more. Cleveland will always have something over Brooklyn: community.
We’re in it together. I may not be an easy road to choose, but reviving our city is something that almost every Clevelander is striving toward, and looks forward to. It’s not just Ohio City, Tremont and Gordon Square, each neighborhood in the 216 has their own contribution to the city’s progress.
People are starting to notice. Our community has had such a turn around, that national magazines are starting to take note—which is a sign we are heading in the right direction. Yeah we may be hot stuff now, but how can we keep the city growing?
Easy! ShopLocal, move downtown, become active in the community, and lend a hand in the time of need. There are so many things happening in Cleveland, and it’s all thanks to its resilient residents. Keep the vibe going strong, and remember to stay connected to CoolCleveland for more updates on our amazing city!
