Doug Katz’s latest establishment Zhug took over the former Fawaki Burst space in Cleveland Heights Cedar Fairmount district, opening its doors in November 2019 after spending spending several months transforming the space with handsome, uncluttered décor.
The flavors are pan-Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, served primarily as small plates meant for sharing. Look for many vegetable-based options, as well as meaty ones, flavored with the Middle Eastern hot sauce that gives the restaurant its name, with cocktails and wines to accompany them. The vibe is informal — stop in for dinner before going to a neighboring pub or for drinks after dinner at one of the area’s other eateries.
