Classical Revolution Cleveland came together about four years ago, the brainstorm of Happy Dog co-owner Sean Watterson, who was looking to present music and events not normally heard at a rock and roll bar, and to cross-fertilize rock and classical audiences.
Since then, this conglomeration of area musicians has offered classical music played by a rotating cast of skilled musicians drawn from the faculty and students of area conservatories as well as working and non-professional musicians in the area. It has even included Cleveland Orchestra players. You never know who will be playing at their monthly third Tuesday gigs, one of which they recorded for an album released earlier this year.
This year they added regular monthly east side gigs at the Barking Spider on the Case Western Reserve campus, the first Sunday afternoon of each month. Now they have a new east side spot — the Grog Shop — where they play this Saturday.
All their shows are free.
