Batuqui

Batuqui

Batuqui’s owners say they’re “bringing a part of Brasil to Cleveland.” The restaurant/bar opened in the former Bon Vivant location on Larchmere in early 2015 to fill the void for Brazilian food left when Sarava at nearby Shaker Square closed following the death of its chef/owner Sergio Abramoff in 2012.

Co-owned by native Brazilians Gustavo Noguiera and Carla Batista, who worked at Sarava alongside Abramoff, its menu features seductive flavors in dishes such as Xim Xim, a traditional stew of chicken, palm oil and carrots” or Prato Misto, a vegetarian dish of black beans, Brazilian rice, red onion rings, seasonal vegetables, farofa and spinach. Cocktails evoke the South American’s country’s sultry climate.

In 2021, they opened a second location in Chagrin Falls. And in early 2025, they moved to a new location on Larchmere; a church just a minute’s walk from their old spot.
