Rabbit Run Theater

Rabbit Run Community Arts Association shows off at Rabbit Run Theater in Madison. Guests enjoy live theater performed in a cozy 19th-century historic barn on the Stevens farm, which attracted lots of rabbits because of the broccoli grown there.

In 1940, the Klump family opened the Barn Playhouse and converted the barn into a theater in the spring of 1946. During its heyday in the 50s and 60s, it was considered a significant place to perform for an actor to build their resume. It closed in 1967 but was later revived to provide seasonal entertainment for the community.

Each summer, four main productions, a youth production, and a summer theater arts camp keep the old barn alive with drama. In addition to theater, the Rabbit Run Community Arts Association runs cultural and educational programming year-round to the extended community.
