VIDEO: Liz Maugans of Zygote Press: “We were humbled”

Cuyahoga Arts & Culture announced nearly $29 million in grants to 175 arts and culture organizations in Cuyahoga County on 11/19/12 at MOCA Cleveland, and Cool Cleveland was there to record some reactions.

Liz Maugans of Zygote Press, a fine art printmaking studio, was thrilled to find out that their group was awarded more than their request, certainly an unexpected surprise in this challenging economy. Watch the video interview here.

“We were lucky and humbled to come in behind the Cleveland International Film Festival for the second top score, and we ended up getting $5000 more than we had budgeted for. So it’s very exciting.”

Maugans talks about the rigorous process that CAC uses to determine grants: a applying organization’s mission and history, a fiscal blueprint, comprehensive cultural data, participation and attendance, and an organization’s benefit to the community.
