According to an article in Salon, “Cleveland is popping, at least in certain neighborhoods, thanks in no small part to in-migration” …and boomerangs. Between 1996 and 2008, more people moved to Cle from NYC than from Cle to NYC.
And this trend is continuing in other cities. Young adults move to New York City for a while, gain job skills, and then move back home, bringing their newfound skills to benefit their hometown. Not only that, they’re spreading good messages to their friends about how cool their hometowns are.
