Cleveland’s Welshly Arms Provides Soundtrack to Pro-Democratic Short Film

The Portland-based media group Eleven Films, which creates short films with a strongly leftwing anti-Trump lean, has produced a new trailer called #Blue Wave2020.

The 2:19 film features clips from recent and historic civil rights demonstrations, mingled with clips from the recent Democratic National Convention, including excerpts from Joe Biden, Kalama Harris, Michelle Obama (who opens the film) and President Barack Obama (who closes it).

In between it offers viewers a glimpse of Democratic candidates for Congress from across the country: Senate candidates Amy McGrath (Kentucky), Jaime Harrison (South Carolina), Raphael Warnock (Georgia) Theresa Greenfield (Iowa), Sara Gideon (Maine), Adrian Perkins (Louisiana), Mark Kelly (Arizona), Doug Jones (Alabama) and Cal Cunningham (North Carolina) and House candidates Pam Keith (Florida), Dr. Lisa Welch (Texas), Michelle De La Isla (Kansas), Kai Kahele (Hawaii), Kim Mangone (California) and Candace Valenzuela (Texas).

And it shows this kaleidoscope of inspiring candidates to a soundtrack provided by Cleveland band and Republic (not Repulbican!) Records recording artist Welshly Arms. The song “Legendary” first appeared on their 2017 Legendary EP, and again on their full-length 2018 album, No Place Is Home.

“You know the truth can be a weapon/To fight this world of ill intentions,” they sing.

And “Through the struggles and the trade-offs/Write in truth heading on the way up/Tell them the truth but they think it’s just made up/I think they got it all wrong/We just got to hold on/And on, and on, and on.”

And vote!
