Akron Americana Band @HeyMavis Performs at Peninsula’s G.A.R Hall

HeyMavis2015

Fri 2/5 @ 8PM

Akron Americana band Hey Mavis keeps upping the ante. Last year’s CD What I Did showcased the band’s elastic and free-ranging take on roots music, with blues, jazz, folk and country strands woven into their dynamic pop/rock. Songwriter/vocalist/banjo player Laurie Caner brings both a sultry sophistication and straightforward sweetness to her vocals, while her husband Ed Caner gives the band an electrified flow with his violin.

A great place to catch them is at the rustic historic G.A.R. Hall in Peninsula. It suits their music well which is why their performances there are always popular. They’re back there this weekend as part of its Voices in the Valley series, which books outstanding roots and folk music acts every weekend. Doors open at 7:30; performance is at 8. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.
