Louisville, Kentucky’s My Morning Jacket has built a reputation since its founding in 1998 as one of the most interesting and unpredictable indie rock bands around. Led by founder/singer/songwriter/guitarist, its trajectory is similar to that of Wilco in that it sprang from American roots music such as country and blues as well as classic rock and began to embellish its sound in adventurous ways that often made its roots barely discernable.
A consistent festival headliner and best-of list entry, the group just released its seventh studio album The Waterfall and is already working on the follow-up, sure to be a relief to fans who waited since 2011 for The Waterfall.
The group will perform at PlayhouseSquare’s State Theatre. Tickets are $39.50-$45.
