With more urban and suburban areas passing ordinances allowing beekeeping, hives in backyards are becoming common and it’s clear that fears about the dangers of bees are unfounded, that in fact they are a boon to the neighborhood with their work in pollinating plants.

Want to learn more? The 5th annual Greater Cleveland Beekeepers Field Day Conference takes place in the Bee Barn at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea. The doors open at 8pm for a day of family-oriented activities including talks on “Raising Ohio Queens” and “Microbials and Honeybees,” honeybee races and the opportunity to observe a working bee yard (veils required).

Admission is $5 or $10 for a family. There will be lunch available for purchase. Go to the Greater Cleveland Beekeepers website for more information.
