The Blue Water Chamber Orchestra will conclude its 2014-2015 focusing on a couple of instruments that aren’t upfront as often as, say, the violin.

Bassoonist George Sakakeeny (pictured) will perform contemporary composer Libby Larsen’s “Full Moon in the City,” which he premiered with the Oberlin Conservatory Contemporary Chamber Ensemble in 2013. The 15-minute piece evokes a nighttime walk in the city, referencing music by David Bowie, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, the Police and the Ramones, among others.

Horn player Ken Wadenpfuhl will be featured on Paul Dukas’ 1906 “Villanelle” for horn and piano. The orchestra will also premiere a new work by the winner of the 2014 Iron Composer competition, and wrap up with Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 3.

The concert takes place at Plymouth Church UCC in Shaker Heights. Tickets are $23.
