Learn to Bump and Grind and Twirl Your Tassels @OhioBurlesque

Burlesque

Wed 1/28 @ 6-9PM

Sat 1/31 @ 3-6PM

If you’ve gone to one of the regular burlesque showcases sponsored by Le Femme Mystique and the Ohio Burlesque Festival — both projects spearheaded by Cleveland’s burlesque queen Bella Sin (pictured) — and thought “That looks like fun,” here’s your chance.

Sin is offering Cleveland Burlesque Academy workshops this week that teach you all about those alluring, teasing moves. The classes as aimed at absolute beginners to intermediate performers hungry to learn more and polish their skills.

The two three-hour sessions will cover topics like tassel twirling, bump and grind, and parade, pose and peel. You’ll learn the basic building blocks to putting together your own imaginative routine.

And if you have attended one of Sin’s burlesque events, you’ve probably noticed that, unlike strippers, burlesque performers have all kinds of bodies that are mostly real-looking— the girls with the big breasts tend to be big girls while the model-thin girls tend to be small on top. So don’t think you have to look like a surgically enhanced, Photoshopped Playboy pinup to participate. Cellulite, tattoos, stretch marks — doesn’t matter. It’s about having fun and being creative.

The workshops take place in the Artcraft Building on Superior in room #501. Advance registration is $40; walk-in registration is $50. So go here to make a reservation and save some money.
