Sun 1/25 @ 2PM
Karel Paukert is an old friend of the Cleveland Museum of Art. He served as curator of music and organist there for three decades, retiring from the museum in 2005 at the age of 70, as one of the most significant contributors to the area’s classical music community.
But musicians don’t give up performing just because they’ve retired and Paukert continues to perform from time to time. He’ll celebrate his 80th birthday by returning to the Cleveland Museum of Art where he’ll perform Olivier Messiaen’s groundbreaking 1935 masterwork La Nativité du Seigneur, a set of nine “meditations” on the birth of Jesus at the Gartner Auditorium
The performance is free.
