The Beachland Tavern’s annual Old Home Night is a reunion for those who orbited around the city’s underground rock scene in the ’70s or as they describe it “an evening of inventive improvisation, cool collaborations, and remarkable reunions.”

Anchored by Home and Garden, the project launched several decades ago by Pere Ubu drummer Scott Krauss and bassist Tony Maimone, it’s undergone many permutations in that time, leaning toward the avant-garde rock that made Pere Ubu famous and exposing how much all the musicians contributed to that sound.

This year, they’ll be joined by Jamie Klimek’s Mirrors (pictured), one of the legendary bands at the base of the ’70s scene that spawned Pere Ubu. That band has become more active in the last couple of years, making several appearances including a high-profile headlining slot on WRUW’s Studio-A-Rama in 2013.

Also on the bill is the Nick Riley All-Stars of more recent genesis; most of these players became active in the music scene in the early ’00s.

Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
