You may not know who J.D. Souther is but you surely know his songs, even if you barely consider yourself a rock and roll fan. He was an integral part of the Southern California soft rock scene in the ’70s, and wrote or co-wrote many tunes everybody knows, including the Eagles’ “Heartache Tonight,” “New Kid in Town” and “Best of My Love,” Don Henley’s “Heart of the Matter,” James Taylor’s “Her Town Too,” and ten tunes recorded by Linda Ronstadt, including “Hasten Down the Wind” and “Prisoner in Disguise.”
On his own, his only major hit was 1979’s “You’re Only Lonely.” But obviously, he can still pack an evening with nonstop familiar material. He’ll be doing so at the Music Box Supper Club. Chris Walters opens.
Tickets are $32 in advance, $38 at the door.
