Old-Time Sounds With @RedTailRing at Happy Days Lodge @Conservancy CVNP

RedTailRing

Fri 11/21 @ 8PM

Kalamazoo, Michigan’s Red Tail Ring consists of two musicians who take old-time country/folk sounds and adapt them for the present. Michael Beauchamp and Laurel Premo forge their repertoire out of both traditional tunes and original material with a traditional feel, entwining their voices and instruments — including guitar, mandolin, fiddle and banjo — in sympathetic harmony. There’s a naturalness and directness to their music, which belies the fact that he has a degree in ethnomusicology and she in performing artist technology (she also studying traditional Finnish music in Helsinki). There’s nothing overly studied about this music.

Since forming in 2009, the duo has released three full-length albums and toured extensively, playing dozens of bluegrass and traditional music festivals across the country. Now they’re bringing their music to one of the prime local spots for traditional/Americana acts, the Conservancy at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge.

Tickets are $17, $13 for Conservancy members; $5 for kids 3-12.
