It’s difficult to find a jazz singer with no Gershwin tunes in his/her repertoire. And there’s a reason for that. The pieces penned by composer George Gershwin and his lyricist brother Ira still stand as the towering classics of the so-called “Great American Songbook” of early 20th century pop music. Even without lyrics, the songs offer great material for jazz ensembles to embroider on.

So it should be an amazing evening when one of Cleveland’s biggest jazz stars, sax player Ernie Krivda, brings an all-star group of area musicians to the Music Box Supper Club to play an evening of Gershwin tunes like “The Man I Love,” “Someone To Watch Over Me,” “Summertime,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” and many more.

He’ll be joined by pianist Joe Hunter, trumpet player/vocalist Tom Lehman, vocalist Evelyn Wright, bassist Peter Dominguez, and drummer Val Kent.

And tickets are just $8. You can’t beat that.
