Comic Opera Barber of Seville in Local Movie Theatres @MetLiveInHD

Barber Of Seville

Sat 11/22 @ 12:55PM

Wed 11/26 @ 6:30PM

Rossini’s 1816 The Barber of Seville is one of the lighter and frothier of all operas. Nobody dies, the right people end up together, and a lot of the melodies are super-familiar, whether you follow opera or not. So it’s a great starter opera.

It’s also next up for the Metropolitan Opera of New York’s Met Live in HD series, which is broadcast to movie theaters across the country. Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, who has appeared on Sesame Street and provided the recorded voice of a Dr. Seuss character in addition to her illustrious opera career, sings the lead female role of the flirtatious Rosina, Lawrence Brownlee is her adoring swain Almaviva and Christopher Maltman is the titular barber who assists in bringing them together.

The opera will be screened at many area theaters, with a rebroadcast the following Wednesday. Tickets are $23. Go here for locations and to buy tickets.
