Keeping up with the ups and downs, ins and outs, comings and goings of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, the biggest rap act to ever break out of Cleveland, is almost impossible. While riding herd on five rappers probably doesn’t begin to approach the problems the ten-member-plus-friends Wu-Tang Clan has had, still it’s hard to keep track of who is currently in the group, who’s doing a solo thing, who’s dealing with personal issues and is temporarily out of commission.
After being discovered by N.W.A.’s Eazy-E and debuting with their 1993 EP Creeping on ah Come Up, Bone Thugs enjoyed some major hit albums and singles in the mid-late ’90s and influenced many other hip hop acts with their rapid-fire vocal delivery. And WikiPedia notes this interesting factoids: “Bone Thugs is the only group that has worked with deceased artists 2Pac, the Notorious B.I.G., Eazy-E, and Big Pun while they were still alive.” No, that’s not intended to be humorous given the number of posthumous releases these artists have racked up.
Currently all five original members — Bizzy Bone, Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-N-Bone (not their real names) — are alleged to be involved as the group has announced it is working on what they are claiming will be their last album, to be released some time next year.
Meanwhile, they’re on tour, and they’ll be at the Agora Theatre with Alost Kings nd AD opening. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door, with V.I.P. packages you can learn about at the Agora website.
