The opportunities to hear world-class classical music in Cleveland are virtually endless.

The Trinity Cathedral Choir, the Trinity Chamber Singers and the Trinity Chamber Orchestra are composed of some of the top professional freelance musicians in this area. (The choir, which performs every Sunday for services at the cathedral, also includes some very gifted amateurs). They’ll be presenting a program at the cathedral called Bach by Candlelight, with two outstanding Cleveland-based soloists, violinist Jinjoo Cho and organist Parker Ramsey.

Cho, a Cleveland Institute of Music graduate, just won the Indianapolis International Violin Competition in September, just the latest of the prizes the 26-year-old musician, who has lived here since she was 14, has snagged. Ramsey is currently interim associate organist at Trinity Cathedral and studying for his masters degree at Oberlin. Both demonstrate the benefits of having so many world-class conservatories and music programs in northeast Ohio to draw musicians like these, one from South Korea, the other from Tennessee.

The program taking place in the evocative setting of the cathedral’s soaring expansive will includes pieces like the cantatas“Christ lag in Todesbanden” and “Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben.”

A pre-concert lecture by retired music professor Dr. Judith Ecklemeyer takes place at 6:30pm.

Tickets are $25.
