Halloween evening, as bats take to the sky and children take to the streets, adults are encouraged to take to the water. Tip a few back as you avoid dropping treats into tricksters’ bags and shake your mortal coil off to the beats DJ Donkis is dropping. After all, what better place to escape the resurfacing of the undead than submerged in adult festivities?

The Greater Cleveland Aquarium will host its second annual Lake Erie Monster Bash at its Powerhouse location Friday, complete with a costume contest and prizes. The aquarium will be crawling with zombies, bars, dancing, and of course aquatic animals.

“The Lake Erie Monster Bash is simply going to be fun,” Joe Prada, the aquarium’s marketing coordinator, said. “Adults can get a little bit of everything at this — a haunted house experience, drinks, music, dancing, and the aquarium walk-through… It is a great event to warm the night up before everyone hits the town in the later hours of the night.

“This is the second year of doing the Lake Erie Monster Bash, and we plan on it growing this year,” he continued. “We are expecting to have around 600 to 700 people [that] night. The main difference from past years will be a lot of the additions that have been incorporated into our aquarium walk-through. In the past couple of months we have added a Giant Pacific Octopus named K-Love and have totally redone our Ohio Lakes and Rivers gallery so that it feels as if you are enclosed in a wooded Ohio forest. Also added to our Ohio gallery is a turtle wall and reptile/amphibian wall.”

Lake Erie Monster Bash runs at the Greater Cleveland Aquarium Fri 10/31, from 7:30pm to 11pm (21+) non-pass holder $35; pass holders $30. Ticket includes one free drink.
