Circus Comes To EJ Thomas Hall With @AkronSymphony

AkronSymphonyCirqye

Sat 10/18 @ 8PM

Smaller orchestras often have the freedom do the sorts of oddball programs that would be looked down upon as lacking in class if one of the major orchestras did them. The Akron Symphony is having a little fun with that option by presenting “Cirque de la Symphonie” at E.J. Thomas Hall.

Yes, there will be a “cirque” going on with juggler, acrobats, strongmen and aerialists performing while the orchestra plays music by Bizet, Saint-Saëns and Tchaikovsky — much of it probably familiar even to those not steeped in classical music. The Akron Symphony not only welcomes such people but has a FAQ on its website leading a first-time concertgoer through his or her experience at the orchestra. Music director Christopher Wilkins conducts.

Tickets are $30-$60.
