Parma’s All Faiths Pantry brings food to seniors and disabled people who might have difficulty going grocery shopping.
The shoestring nonprofit group depends on donations to keep its work going, augmented by its big annual fundraiser Reggae for Food, now in its sixth year.
Reggae for Food 6 has a stellar lineup of local talent, one reggae fans would want to see even if it weren’t for a good cause. It features the ever-popular, always sunny Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band; Umojah Nation, which brings women’s voices to the forefront; roots reggae veterans Jah Messengers; and Hybrid Shakedown (pictured, at Mahall’s LKWD Music Fest in August), nine musicians who create a pulsating blend of Afrobeat, rock, jazz, electronic dance music, and reggae.
It’s taking place at the Cleveland State University Ballroom. Tickets are $15 in advance (you can pick them up at Lakewood’s Root Café or Coventry Cats in Cleveland Heights), $20 at the door. It’s only $10 for CSU students with I.D.
