Akron’s Simeon Soul Charger Comes Home From Europe To @KentStage

Sat 10/4 @ 8PM

Akron’s Simeon Soul Charger is another of those local bands that’s getting their music out in the world more than most locals know about. They started out in 2008 honing their classic rock sound that’s a throwback to the experimental early ’70s with progressive, stoner, folk, pop and psychedelic elements running throughout.

They released their debut EP in 2009, then hit the road for some regional touring. Somewhere along the way, they acquired connections in Germany and toured there following the release of their second EP All Rather Dead in 2010. They returned to Germany after the release of their debut full-length Meet Me in the Afterlife and spent some time living there. That beachhead they established there brought them a loyal fan base and allowed them to branch out to play in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.

They’ve just returned from yet another European tour, and they’ll play a homecoming show at the Kent Stage so area fans can check in on their progress. They’ll be joined by Akron’s Maid Myriad, celebrating the release of their new album With Haste on Our Breath, which they’ll play from start to finish. Asbestos Lettuce open.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
