Welshly Arms Heads All-Local Bill @HOBCleveland

Sat 8/23 @ 8PM

Cleveland’s Welshly Arms is relatively new to the local music scene, formed in early 2013.  But the four members have been honing their chops in other bands. And their music has the kind of classic blues- and soul-based rock sound, driven by solid musicianship and strong performance skills, that probably could have netted them a major label recording contract and a shot at national fame, if those kinds of things were still happening much.

Still, they’ve been creating a small stir. They released an EP, Welcome, last year, and several of the songs were used in promotional spots on the CW network. They showcased at Austin’s South by Southwest and performed at Los Angeles’ Hotel Cafe in 2013. Early this year they released a six-song covers EP while working on tunes for a full-length record they’re planning to release before the end of the year. Meanwhile, they caught a big break when their music was picked to be the sound of the new Cleveland tourism campaign.

The group will headline a show at the House of Blues, with two other Cleveland bands — the Moxies and Thaddeus Anna Greene.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 day of show.
