Diarrhea Planet is a really unappetizing name for a band. But the Nashville sextet dragging that monicker is an energy ensemble that rocks hard with a four-guitar lineup, while playing songs that are ruthlessly catchy.
Formed in 2009, the band has released two full-length albums, 2011’s Loose Jewels and last year’s I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams.
They close this year’s Summer in the City series at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum — on the plaza if the weather’s good, inside on the lobby stage if it’s not.
Opening is Cleveland’s Herzog, whose philosophy is similar: rock hard but write great pop tunes. They’re less metal-influenced though. The group released their latest album Boys on Exit Stencil Records, a label founded in Cleveland, earlier this year, and have been getting their act out on the road more.
The show is free. Refreshments are available for purchase on the plaza, and there are always food trucks out front.
