Lakewood quintet Cicada Sunrise cite a bunch of emo, post-punk and punk pop bands like Thursday, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, Thrice, and Receiving End of Sirens as influences. Their recently released single “No Corners,” which you can listen to here, is on the soft end of that spectrum, a pensive, midtempo rocker whose transparent arrangement spotlights Devin Taylor’s aching vocal.
The group is following that up with a full-length CD called Organic Damage that they’ll debut at the Grog Shop. Purveyors of Fiction, Titans in Time, A Work of Fiction, and End in Echoes are also on the bill.
