What does an operatic legend do when she’s 80 years old and the voice isn’t what it used to be?
If she’s a true devotee of her art, she passes on what she’s learned to the next generation. That’s what mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne has been focusing on since she retired from the concert stage in 1999. She teaches regular master classes at a numerous of schools including the Oberlin Conservatory. She’ll be back there for a pair of master classes at Oberlin’s Finney Chapel.
These classes are open to the public, a great chance for opera fans to get some insight into the mechanics of producing a seemingly effortless aria.
It’s $5 for the general public, free to students.
