Were the ’80s your personal heyday? Did you feel like Morrissey was the only person on earth who really “got” you? Did you mope to the singing of Joy Division’s doomed Ian Curtis, the Cure’s hair-hopper Robert Smith, or Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy? Or bounce around a dance floor to Depeche Mode?
If so, the New Wave Rave is the party for you. Taking place at the Beachland Tavern, the event features four DJs — Partysweat, Castle Spooktacular, D-Rock and Himiko Go Go — who will spin their favorite tunes from that diverse, colorful and influential era. No matter what style of ’80s new wave you listening to — gloomy drones, hammering post-punk, new romantic, or technopop — chances are one of this quarter is also into it.
The evening will also feature four guest “STARtenders”: WOBC radio host Bee Brown, aspiring fashion designer Deanna Michelle Turcotte, vintage buff Cassie Trainer, and musician Jenna Fournier of Nights and Tiger and Boy.
