Country/Folk Duo Robin & Linda Williams Comes to @KentStage

Sat 2/15 @ 8PM

Husband and wife Robin and Linda Williams have been kicking around the alternative country scene since before there was such a scene. They released their first album in 1975 and made their initial appearance — the first of many — on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion the following year.

They’ve kept at it until the alt-country/Americana scene caught up with them, making their acoustic, bluegrass-inflected folk country not seem like such an anomaly anymore.

The two are also noted songwriters, whose tunes have been recorded by people like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris, Kathy Mattea, and the Seldom Scene. The most recent of their long string of albums is 2012’s Old Dark Hills. Fans probably won’t have to wait too long for another. Unlike many veteran acts, they’ve only gone more than two years without a new album a handful of times since 1975.

In fact, there has seldom been a lull in their career. They’ve made appearances on major music programs like Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, and the Grand Old Opry, performed as themselves in the fictional film about A Prairie Home Companion, constantly collaborated with other artists, and tour regularly with their band, dubbed Their Fine Group.

They’ll be performing at the Kent Stage.

Tickets are $15-$18.
