Lez Zeppelin is a tribute band — don’t need to tell you a tribute to whom. But they’re not just another tribute band.
Formed a decade ago in New York City by guitarist/Jimmy Page fan Steph Paynes, the all-woman band has attracted a rabid following for their incredible simulations of one of the most important rock bands of all times. Their 2011 album Lez Zeppelin I replicated Led Zeppelin’s 1969 debut.
But in addition to the fact that they are outstanding musicians, more than capable of the mission they’ve laid out for themselves, the fact that they’re women (unknown if they are lesbians or if they just thought the name was clever). They play with and by their gender, comment on, the inherent sexuality that was as much a part of Led Zeppelin’s appeal as their music.
They’ll be at Musica in Akron. Dynamo Love and Tonight Theater open the show.
Tickets are $12.
